GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS ™.The Largest Steel Sculpture, Taiwan’s New Landmark

The Holy Pure Land is located at Tamsui of New Taipei City in northern Taiwan. It is the world’s first construction with the sitting Buddha in the image of Thousand-Hand Thousand-Eye Guanyin Bodhisattva as its iconic design. The Guanyin Statue is made of stainless steel and coated with titanium, measuring 30.3 meters in height and 35.9 meters in width. Sitting on top of the world’s first horizontally-placed “thousand-hand thousand-eye dharma wheel” stacked upon the lotus throne as part of the four-story pedestal, it brings the total height of the entire construction to 56 meters, truly magnificent and breathtaking. The Holy Statue will not only be a new landmark of Taiwan; it even set a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS ™, entitled as “the largest steel sculpture” of the world in 2019!

The Thousand-Hand Thousand-Eye Guanyin Bodhisattva Statue at Tamsui embodies a significant milestone in Buddhist history as well as in architecture. Since Sakyamuni Buddha established Buddhism 2500 years ago, given the limited knowledge in casting techniques, building technology and physics, not a colossal steel sculpture in the image of Thousand-Hand Thousand-Eye Guanyin had ever been erected. In modern days, despite improvement in technology, there are still issues regarding mechanics and wind resistance to be overcome, especially because of Thousand-Hand Thousand-Eye Guanyin Bodhisattva’s iconographic complexity. Now, Master Lee leads his Forshang disciples successfully taking up the challenges, including developing the world-unique assembling techniques. The world’s first colossal sitting Buddha in the image of Thousand-Hand Thousand-Eye Guanyin Statue – one equipped with 36 big hands holding in total of 33 dharma vessels, and 1008 hands with 1008 eyes – is coming into existence. More importantly, this is a Holy Statue that will endure 5,000 years.

The Thousand-Hand Thousand-Eye Guanyin Bodhisattva Statue at Tamsui is located not far away from Yuan-Dao Guanyin Temple – both are connected through a pathway, about five to ten minutes of walk. On November 16, 2017, when the Thousand-Hand Thousand-Eye Guanyin Bodhisattva’s 11 heads, 36 big hands, 33 dharma vessels, and the primary form of the lotus throne were all set up, Master Lee held the “Thousand-Hand Thousand-Eye Guanyin Bodhisattva.Perfect Manifestation Dharma Assembly” to initiate the establishment of Guanyin’s “Holy Pure Land.” Now with its basic structure in place, we are working on the exterior and interior decorations. We welcome one and all to visit and contribute in any capacity. All together, we wish to build a Holy Pure Land in Taiwan for all the people around the world, including those we were associated with in the past lifetimes and will be in the future.
